February Gift of Hope

Dear Friends,
I know as we watch the news we get apprehensive about our future. Let me encourage you to stand strong in what the word of God teaches us. It foretells of events that are happening today and for us not to grow weak but be strong and of good courage. He won't leave us or forsake us. We really need to stay calm and continue His work until He says, "That's enough". Then marketplaces will be empty and there will be no more traffic in the street.

All the builders’ tools are silent, no more time to harvest wheat, busy housewives cease their labor, in the courtroom: no debate, work on Earth has now suspended as the King comes through the gate. We know those are the words from a very popular song and many have sung it and many have clapped their hands to it and believe in their hearts that it's true.

This is a busy world and I know our work is not done. The fields are still ripe unto harvest and we had better get busy. The signs of the times are everywhere and we need to be about our Father’s business. His work is to love people and take care of one another. 1 Corinthians 13 – And now abide in faith, hope and love, these three, but the greatest of these is love.
When the Lighthouse was founded it was built with love and faith in God but many of our original donors have passed on. We have been trying very hard to get new donors to replace them and due to the change in lifestyles and the changing economy it has been a challenge. God has given us the ability and wisdom to conquer new challenges and courage to change the things we need changed.

I was told from the beginning I should not make my letters too religious but I feel you need the encouragement to keep on giving, especially to those who are unable to help themselves at this tiem. With our help and your giving and our residents finding their resources, we can make Bartlesville a city that cares.

Just like other not-for-profit agencies we have to pay our obligations. You are the only resource we have. Sometimes it doesn’t seem like we see or we don’t see the blessing He gives us because we are looking for something else. But I know if our hearts are in the right place and we are happy about our giving, God will bless us.

Please continue your support and help us help our community and surrounding areas. Help us do what you can’t and we’ll do what we can with God’s help; one person at a time.

God bless those who love you.

Sincerely,

Naomi Hill
COO/Founder

New Men's Dormitory

A man set out to build a house for himself that would satisfy his needs and be admired by others. He was not a builder and sought the advice of many. Much of the advice that he received was faulty and when his house was finished it pleased him, but when the storms of his life came, his house came apart and he had no shelter. Another man determined to build a house for others. Since he was a novice he sought the plans of the Master Builder. When his house was finished not many admired it, but when the storms of life came, it weathered them well because its foundation was built upon the Master's plan and many whose houses had crumbled found shelter there.

The Lighthouse Outreach Mission is a shelter built for others whose homes have come apart. It is built upon the plan of the Master Builder and offers Christian love to all who are in need. Because the need has been increasing for several years in Bartlesville, it was determined that more beds were needed at the shelter and in 2006 a new men's dormitory was started. Though many are faithful to support the homeless, most people are so busy building their own houses to donate time and money to build shelter for others.

If you are in need of a blessing, let me suggest that you give to build for others using God's plan. It works for me. The daily needs of the homeless always come first at the Lighthouse and over two years after the new 30-bed dormitory was started, much of the interior remains to be completed and the funds are not available. If you can help, make your donation to the Lighthouse at 1411 West Hensley Blvd., Bartlesville; or, if you would care to help with construction of the new dormitory on any given day, call Frank Carlburg (board president & project manager).
