New Men's Dormitory

A man set out to build a house for himself that would satisfy his needs and be admired by others. He was not a builder and sought the advice of many. Much of the advice that he received was faulty and when his house was finished it pleased him, but when the storms of his life came, his house came apart and he had no shelter. Another man determined to build a house for others. Since he was a novice he sought the plans of the Master Builder. When his house was finished not many admired it, but when the storms of life came, it weathered them well because its foundation was built upon the Master's plan and many whose houses had crumbled found shelter there.

The Lighthouse Outreach Mission is a shelter built for others whose homes have come apart. It is built upon the plan of the Master Builder and offers Christian love to all who are in need. Because the need has been increasing for several years in Bartlesville, it was determined that more beds were needed at the shelter and in 2006 a new men's dormitory was started. Though many are faithful to support the homeless, most people are so busy building their own houses to donate time and money to build shelter for others.

If you are in need of a blessing, let me suggest that you give to build for others using God's plan. It works for me. The daily needs of the homeless always come first at the Lighthouse and over two years after the new 30-bed dormitory was started, much of the interior remains to be completed and the funds are not available. If you can help, make your donation to the Lighthouse at 1411 West Hensley Blvd., Bartlesville; or, if you would care to help with construction of the new dormitory on any given day, call Frank Carlburg (board president & project manager).
